Nations
around the world are watching how the U.S.
treats Canada as a sign of how they should
treat the U.S. with respect to restoring beef
trade. Mexico has said that it is inclined to
import from the U.S. what the U.S. imports from
Canada.
Similarly, Japan has indicated that the attacks by some U.S. producers on the safety of Canadian beef give Japan pause: because U.S. and Canadian beef are produced in virtually the same manner, criticizing Canadian beef safety calls into question U.S. beef safety. Or as AMI has said, "Calling Canadian beef unsafe is like calling your twin sister ugly."
